Building a stronger, age-inclusive workforce
One in three workers in the UK is now aged 50 or over, making this the fastest-growing segment of the workforce. At Acacium Group, we’ve always believed that our strength comes from the breadth of skills, experience and perspectives across our workforce.
As people build longer, more varied working lives, there is a clear opportunity for organisations like ours to build truly age-inclusive teams that support people at every stage of their careers.
As a global organisation working across healthcare, social care and life sciences, our people shape the quality and impact of everything we do. Being age inclusive is an important part of how we help support our colleagues, share knowledge and build strong teams, and it plays a vital role in the value we bring to clients and communities worldwide.
Delivering more for our clients
Putting people first enables us to perform at our best. By building multigenerational teams, we create a workforce that better reflects the complexity of the systems we support.
For our clients, this means:
- More resilient workforces, combining experience, innovation and fresh thinking
- Greater continuity of care and service delivery through the retention of experienced professionals
- Stronger problem-solving and decision-making, informed by diverse perspectives
- Increased workforce stability, supporting responses to skills shortages and rising demand
In sectors where quality and safety are critical, this depth of capability supports more consistent, effective and sustainable services.
Our commitment
Signing the Age-friendly Employer Pledge reinforces our commitment to creating an environment where people can thrive at every stage of their career.
We are committed to:
- Recognising age as a key focus within our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies
- Taking at least one meaningful action each year to support older workers, from inclusive recruitment to targeted development and health initiatives
- Reporting annually on our progress
- Having a senior sponsor in place to provide leadership, visibility and accountability for our age-inclusive commitments – proudly led by our Director of People & Culture Natasha Vouckelatou
These commitments reflect our values and ensure colleagues feel supported to contribute throughout their careers.
What this means in practice
We are already embedding age inclusion across how we attract, support and develop talent. This includes:
- Introducing age-inclusive language across job adverts and role profiles
- Reviewing recruitment practices to reduce bias and widen access to opportunities
- Expanding development and wellbeing support, including menopause awareness and support
This is part of our wider approach to building a workforce that is inclusive, adaptable and ready for the future.
Looking ahead
Age inclusion is an ongoing priority across our global teams. By continuing to invest in our people, we strengthen our ability to support clients with the insight, expertise and resilience they need.
At Acacium Group, excellence starts with our people. Bringing together experience and new perspectives enables us to make a lasting difference for the organisations and communities we serve.
