Proclinical builds team for rare disease biotech

Proclinical builds a UK clinical operations team for a rare disease biotech

Overview

Proclinical partners with a rare disease biotech based in the UK. At the time of writing this client had recently gained an additional licensing agreement with a large pharmaceutical company and, in order to manage their growing pipeline, needed our help to build out their clinical operations team.

The challenge

The first requirements were for two senior clinical project managers to oversee a specific programme in the company’s pipeline. The key challenge was to identify interested professionals who were willing to consider new opportunities at a time of economic uncertainty caused by a global pandemic. Furthermore, these individuals ideally needed rare disease biotech experience.

The solution

Proclinical’s team of clinical operations recruitment experts were able to use their extensive network of talent to help our partner find suitable candidates. We operated in an advisory manner, helping with salary benchmarking, full interview scheduling and referencing. Our partner was in the process of hiring a TA Manager, and we acted as an interim TA function during this time.

All interviews were done remotely due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, using our video interviewing platform. Once those roles were completed, we then initiated the search for a permanent CTA. We also found two contract CTAs to join immediately to support the PMs, with the permanent hire joining later due to notice period. This 5-hire project was completed entirely remotely.

The outcome

We successfully completed the team build within the timeframes provided: six weeks from initiation to completion for the permanent roles and two weeks for the contract positions. The company continues to be a key partner for us, as we provide ongoing support in regulatory affairs and corporate development.
