Overview

Xyla Diagnostics were appointed by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) in July 2019 to reduce wait times within the outpatient echocardiography service at the Royal Derby Hospital site.

The solution

We were contracted to provide capacity for 176 TTE scans per month, that we delivered to the trust via a busy regional clinical team of 9 specialist echocardiographers primarily at weekends.

The outcome

We were successful in allowing UHDB to reduce the % of patients waiting 6 weeks for a TTE investigation, from 40.9% in August 2019, to 13.7% in November 2019, and to 7% in March. We continue to be a valued partner University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) and deliver between 300-400 TTE scans and 40 Ambulatory ECG reports per month. The success of our service has seen our provision increase to meet the growing demands on the service at UHDB.
