National Career Development Month: Putting people first
November is National Career Development Month, a dedicated time to reflect on the professional development. Whether you’re just starting out in your career or looking to take the next step, this month is the perfect opportunity to assess where you are, where you want to go and how to get there.
As a leading global healthcare delivery partner, Acacium Group lives by our values of putting people first, delivering excellence and always by your side. Our award-winning career development support structures, training and resources ensure our employees feel supported in their professional growth.
In honour of National Career Development Month, we’re spotlighting three employees who’ve taken full advantage of these opportunities to thrive and progress in their careers.
“My apprenticeship gave me a foot in the door.”
At the age of 19, I was looking to start my career without following the traditional university route. I joined Acacium Group as a business administration apprentice in 2020 and I have gone on to work in teams across our commercial function in Bids and Group Marketing. I’ve gained a real appreciation for the different arms of the business and how they contribute to our purpose to improve people’s lives.
With the support and mentorship of my managers and wider team, I’m now the Group Social Media and Marketing Executive. This role has given me so many learning opportunities, from running webinars and events, helping our brands define their social strategy and showcasing the amazing work we do across the group.
My advice to others would be to stay open to learning, embrace every challenge as an opportunity for growth. Surround yourself with mentors who inspire and push you to reach your full potential – never stop being curious!
Jess Toledano, Social Media and Marketing Executive, Acacium Group
“My path to senior management – it’s rewarding to see others excel.”
Learning and development has been an ever-present throughout my career at Acacium Group. From the day that I joined as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant in 2013, I had an extensive onboarding programme that took me through the essentials of the role. Since then, I’ve had regular one-to-ones, coaching and development.
This continuous theme of support and development helped me to excel throughout my career, as a consultant, through to management. In 2021 I also had the opportunity to enrol on a Senior Leadership MBA with Henley Business School via Acacium Group.
My advice is to be open to learning, most of all when transitioning into Management. People can make assumptions that as a manager you should have all the answers, that most definitely isn’t the case! Being open to learning and supporting in finding solutions is key.
Myron Jordine, Operations Director, Pulse, part of Acacium Group
“A growth mind set fast-tracked my career progression.”
My journey with Acacium Group began on January 2024, when I joined as a Candidate Attraction Specialist for the Pulse Doctor’s Division. By April, I was promoted to Candidate Attraction Team Leader and this month I will take on the additional responsibility of leading the Pulse Doctor’s team, further broadening my role.
This growth has been incredibly fulfilling. The tools provided by Social Talent have been invaluable, enhancing my leadership skills and enabling me to support my team and the business effectively. Acacium Group offers a wealth of developmental opportunities that continually inspire me.
I am also grateful for the tremendous support I receive from my manager and the sales team in the UK. Their encouragement has been pivotal in my career progression, allowing me to acquire new skills and drive towards future promotions.
The best advice I can offer for career development is to cultivate a teachable mindset and a strong desire to achieve excellence. Embrace learning opportunities and stay open to growth!
Jaime-Lee Daniels, Candidate Attraction Team Leader in South Africa, Pulse, part of Acacium Group
